Analysis

Overview

Cidd is arguably one of the best 4★ Heroes in the game, shining in both PvE and PvP content. He has one of the highest Speed stats in the game, often allowing him to act first and take frequent turns. When he has a Speed buff, he can dish out a painful amount of damage and DEF break to the enemy team. High single-target damage combined with his Earth element makes him a great counter to popular water Heroes such as Diene and Angelica in PvP.

However, Cidd suffers from a DEF break that only lasts for one turn, a Speed buff requirement that makes him hard to pace with his team, and low survivability.

Strengths

Fast

Alongside the usual benefits of high Speed, such as frequent turns and first turn priority, Cidd’s Skills all scale off of Speed for good kit synergy.

Consistent DEF break

Relentless Strike (S1) has 100% chance to inflict DEF break given that Cidd has a SPD buff, but keep in mind that this can still be resisted with Effect Resistance.

With the combination of his high Speed and high DEF break chance, Cidd can easily DEF break a target for the main DPS to finish off.

High single-target DPS

Cidd’s S1 and S3 damage scale with speed and synergizes well with Wind’s Resolve (S2). His Hack (S3) deals damage as an advantageous element given Cidd has a Speed buff which can be guaranteed by S2 except for his first turn.

Weaknesses

Low utility

Cidd is an awkward mix between a DPS and a debuffer, and as a result does not feature much utility for his team. Without a buffer providing  an immediate SPD buff, he needs one turn to Crit with Relentless Strike (S1) before he can begin to DEF break. Cidd’s DEF break also lasts only one turn, so timing it correctly with other DPS Heroes can be a problem.

Hard to pace with team

Due to Cidd’s DEF break lasting only one turn, the Combat Readiness and Speed of both the user’s and the enemy’s teams must be carefully considered when deciding who to DEF break. It is especially ineffective against speedy Heroes who cycle through turns quickly, so it is highly recommended to have another DEF breaker on the team.

While Hack (S3) is a great way to begin the  battle with a kill, this Skill requires Cidd to have a SPD buff to reach the full damage potential and gain the elemental advantage. However, Cidd’s speed may need to be lowered since there are no SPD buffers with a higher base Speed than Cidd.

Squishy

Characteristic of most Thieves, Cidd has very low HP and DEF. It is recommended to equip him with Wind Rider to grant him protection against single-target damage.

Builds

Multi-track drifting?!??

This build is optimized for DPS, but if you find Cidd to be lacking in damage, you may want to consider using him as a debuffer with the Dust Devil Artifact. While this Artifact is RNG-based and generally considered too unreliable for PvP, Cidd’s S1 is incredibly strong and high Speed will allow him to proc it often.

Cidd is most optimal when paired with a Speed buffer, as it will immediately increase damage on S1 while also creating an elemental advantage with S3. When his S3 is up, take his guaranteed elemental advantage (or lack of) into consideration and target the most squishy foe. The extra turn gained from killing an opponent with S3 is basically a free skill cooldown decrease. Even if it might not kill, still use S3 whenever it is to take advantage of its short cooldown.

Team

Core

Cidd works well with general single-target focused team compositions. However, for Cidd's full damage potential, the team should include a unit with a high Speed and a Skill that grants a Speed buff. Righteous Thief Roozid with all of his Speed runes unlocked is a great candidate for this position. Other Speed buffers such as Yuna or Captain Rikoris can also fill this role, but thy will need impressive equipment to act before Cidd.
