Once among the greatest of believers in the Goddess and her Covenant, Arbiter Vildred joined hands with the Acolyte Kayron and betrayed everyone and everything he once believed in. Within his body is contained the power of the Archdemon Anghraf.

Analysis

Overview

Arbiter Vildred has turned on his allies to harness the power of the Archdemon. With this new power he is one of the few Heroes who will deal AoE damage with all of his offensive skills, as well as deal damage that increases as enemy Health decreases. . He will also cripple the enemy with the continuous CR decrease on Sweep (S1) and Hit Chance Decrease on Dark Contract (S2). Given his strengths, Arbiter Vildred can be formidable in both Guild Wars and Arena, as well as a successful farming Hero.

Strengths

Reset

Any good Hero’s S3 will have a long cooldown, right?  Not Arbiter Vildred. Dark Blade (S3) will reset any time it kills a target, providing easy farming in PvE and strong cleanup potential in PvP.

Dark Revival

Arbiter Vildred’s S2 offers him the benefit of a free revive once per battle. This is especially useful in PvP where he can bait out important skills of enemy Heroes only to revive with a full Focus Dark Blade (S3) off of cooldown in response.

The longer the fight, the harder you hit.

Sweep (S1) and Dark Blade (S3) are two of the only skills in the game that have a second damage multiplier that scales based on the enemy’s missing health. This means as fights drag on, Arbiter Vildred’s damage will scale up. Sweep (S1) also has the added benefit of disrupting  turn order by always hitting two targets and lowering enemy CR by 10-15%.

Weaknesses

Focus

Arbiter Vildred suffers from having a Focus mechanic. Other Focus-based Heroes thrive due to having reliable ways to build focus and powerful benefits once full focus is reached. Dark Blade (S3) will never be at its full damage potential immediately because of its focus reliance. The only ways to reliably increase his focus is by taking turns or dying in order to trigger Dark Contract (S2.)

Counterproductive Skillset

There are many upsides to Arbiter Vildred’s skills though they often leave more to be desired. Dark Contract (S2) will revive him-- which is good at first thought-- but will remove any buffs he previously had upon death and also will not give him a turn right away, meaning there is plenty of time for him to be debuffed-- or worse, knocked out.

Dark Blade does not want you to cleave… at all.

Dark Blade (S3) scales off of the enemy’s  missing health. This is is counterproductive to any form of cleave when paired with his focus mechanic, and typically other cleave Heroes are easier to make work. He can still cleave adequately in PVP, however.

Builds

Here, have an Edgelord

The intention of this build is to have Arbiter Vildred as a slow yet hard-hitting Hero that gets his Combat Readiness boosted in order to deliver one devastating Dark Blade (S3). Typically 1-2 CR boosts will be necessary, accompanied by an Attack buff, Def Break, or Critical Rate buff. With Arbiter Vildred you will also generally want a damage dealer to go before him to take advantage of Elyha’s Knife granting increased Defense Penetration. This will typically ensure one--if not multiple-- kills to open up the Skill Reset on Dark Blade (S3.) Elyha’s knife can also be replaced with Exorcists Tonfa for a similar effect.
